Hi, Teronie J. Donaldson! Thank you for your thoughtful response. I don’t have anything against “great article” comments. Especially when you just think the piece is good and don’t have anything new to add. Every author likes to hear the audience accepted his writing.

I’m still undecided with tags. I don’t really understand their value. The original article is already tagged, and the people that find the article might find your comment.

Maybe if the comment is structured as a story for itself (perhaps Medium staff was aiming at this), and then someone stumbles upon your comment through search engines. It might drive more eyes on your work.

I guess there is nothing wrong with leaving tags. But I find it challenging to measure their contribution to driving more audience.
